Delta SkyMiles Program

The Delta SkyMiles Program is their loyalty program for airline passengers. This program is divided into 5 categories: SkyMiles Member, SkyMiles Silver Medallion, SkyMiles Gold Medallion, SkyMiles Platinum Medallion, and SkyMiles Diamond Medallion. There is technically a 6th level, Delta 360, however that is invitation only.

Your status is calculated by the amount of MQMs(Medallion Qualifying Miles) or MQSs(Medallion Qualifying Segments) + the amount of MQDs(Medallion Qualifiying Dollars) or if you have an American Express Delta card, you are eligible for a waiver based on your spending. In general, the more you fly and spend with Delta, the greater your benefits will be! I personally am a Gold Medallion member and get upgraded about 75% of the time to Delta Comfort+ or First Class… As a 6’2″ individual I will gladly take the extra leg room! Here is a link to all of the benefits by Delta Medallion status.

American Express Delta Credit Cards

Delta Reserve

The American Express Delta Reserve is the premium co-branded card for Delta and American Express. The Delta Reserve currently has the best “status jump start” offer I have ever seen, offering 80,000 Delta SkyMiles + 20,000 MQMs after $5,000 spend in the first 3 months. They are also offering a $200 statement credit after your first purchase from Delta within the same 3 month period. That is worth $1080 based on current Delta SkyMiles valuation of 1.1 cents per point + $200 statement credit! The American Express Delta Reserve also comes with the following:

  1. Delta SkyClub Access
  2. American Express Centurion Lounge Access
  3. Free Checked Bag
  4. Free Companion Certificate for a domestic First Class, Delta Comfort + or Main Cabin Ticket every year upon renewal
  5. Free Global Entry or TSA PreCheck

Delta Platinum

The American Express Delta Platinum is considered a top tier co-branded card with a $250 annual fee. The current intro bonus offer for the American Express Delta Platinum is 90,000 SkyMiles + $200 Delta Credit, currently worth $1,190 after $3,000 spend in the first 3 months. The Delta Platinum also comes with the following benefits:

  1. First checked bag free
  2. Free companion certificate for Domestic travel every year upon renewal
  3. Free Global Entry or TSA PreCheck

Delta Gold

The American Express Delta Gold is a mid level card for both American express and Delta with a $99 annual fee. Currently, American Express is waiving the $99 annual fee for the first year as well as offering 70,000 SkyMiles + $200 Delta Credit after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months, currently worth $990! The only major benefit of the Delta Gold is your first check bagged free.

Delta Blue

The American Express Delta Blue is Delta’s no annual fee card, currently offering 10,000 SkyMiles for $500 of spend in the first 3 month’s. This card does not come with any amazing benefits like the other Delta cards, however it is great for someone looking to build their credit!
